This morning I did another run with my running buddy. She showed up. We went running and I was able to complete the four miles without stopping and walking. My average pace was 12 minute miles. This is so slow but perhaps with consistent effort over time I can get to the point where I can return back to the track and do speed work. I want to slowly work my way up to 20 miles a week and then 30 and then after some consistent weeks of 30 miles, I’ll go back to the track and train with a group like I did before. Mindfulness means in so many instances and ways to just show up. My running buddy and I decided to meet earlier at 7am this coming Monday morning. We both agree that the earlier meeting time will make a difference in terms of consistency, in terms of just showing up. Mindfulness also has changed for me to now mean that rather than having the running goal be finishing or setting a personal record (PR) at my next marathon, while working up to that point my running becomes and remains the experience of flow.
