This morning I got up and ran the fist thing and I realize that this will need to be the pattern for all future runs before my family wakes up and needs me. I feel so good that I have rediscovered the power of early morning runs. Mindfulness comes from such a rediscovery because of the possibility of consistent effort over time.
In light of the news that the 2020 Boston Marathon is cancelled, I feel like restating that “the path is the destination”. In my efforts to prepare my dissertation proposal defense for my dissertation committee next week, I am reminded that “rather than having the goal of finishing or PR-ing the race, the goal becomes the experience of flow”. This can happen any time, anywhere within or without a race setting. Mindfulness comes from welcoming the mystery and wonder of flow irregardless of where and how it finds the runner.
