Today is a continuation of my marathon training for an October marathon. Back in January when I was still in my cast, I sat on our front porch. I watched a neighbor run past my house several days a week. I asked her if she would be willing to run walk with me when I was ready to start. She agreed. We started out walking and running and then merged into just running. My friend/coach plans our weekly mileage, the days off, the length of each run as we slowly build up our base. She is great at being present and accepting of where I currently am. We have been consistently running together since January. I am so grateful for her acceptance of my current fitness level. I have been able to stay injury free and plan to keep it that way as we continue to train for the October marathon. Mindfulness in athletic performance comes with consistent effort.
